Along with Seto, Shigaraki, Echizen, Tanba, and Bizen, Tokoname ware is counted as one of the six ancient kilns of Japan. Tokoname soil is durable and does not absorb water, making it suitable for teapots. Tokoname's craftsmen also use the technique of rubbing the main body and the lid together to make them stick together. This is a storage container made with such a teapot making technique. It can be used for a wide range of purposes, such as storing tea leaves and coffee beans.
