Cast iron square
A medium plate made from a raw mold. The radial pattern resembles chrysanthemum petals.
The product was designed by Morihisa Suzuki  in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, known for its iron works  - Nanbu Tekki.
This factory, with a heritage of 15 generations, has been producing  cast iron products since 1625 and their special technique gives each product a striking texture. The studio made, among other things, Buddhist monastery accessories, monastery bells, teapots and all these for the elite of Japanese society.
The studio received an award from the Japanese Ministry of Finance in 1974.
